Student ID reaps rewards in downtown Lincoln

Believe it or not, that card on your lanyard or in your wallet can get you some really good deals.
All across the city there are businesses and restaurants that offer special discounts to students who show their school ID’s.
There are loads of opportunities ranging from bowling at Sun Valley Lanes to discounted shows at the Lincoln community playhouse and even a plethora of choices for deals on food and dining.
For avid movie goers, the Marcus Grand Theatre downtown on 11th and P currently offers a discounted movie night on Thursdays for students who show their ID’s.
The student discount gets you admission into any movie available, including the UltraScreen theatre with reclining seats, for only $5. A 44oz. popcorn is also included free of charge with the special offer.
Within walking distance of the theatre, just across the street and down the block, brings us to Dempsey’s Pub, another business with offers for students.
Considered by some to be one of the best burgers in the city, Dempsey’s Pub offers a special on Mondays every week for half-priced burgers for all faculty and students who show their school ID’s.
After speaking with one of the employees at Dempsey’s Pub, there is also a newly-updated menu along with a late night, student-friendly menu being offered.
“We have a lot of new ideas here that we plan on starting over the summer to make Dempsey’s even more appealing to our customers; these new student-friendly changes are only the beginning” said KaDeja, an employee at Dempsey’s Pub.
“We have students here during the day studying during lunch time, and often coming back during the evening when they are ready to relax and take a load off,” she added.  “It’s the best of both worlds.”
Just a block down from there are a few other restaurants that offer great deals for students, too. Just show your ID at Noodles & Co. or Arby’s and you can receive 15% off of your entire order.
The downtown area has plenty of options for those just finishing up with classes during the day.
Just a short walk from Southeast Community College’s downtown campus is a variety of great deals and discounts for students and staff alike, and all anyone needs is to flash that handy school ID.
