The Southeast men could not overcome a cold and sluggish first half as they fell to the visiting DMACC Bears, 85-80 on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The team suffered through a first half where they shot just 25.8 percent from the field and 16 percent from the 3-pont line.

The second half saw the Storm out-pace Des Moines 49-47. The shooters heated up to 54.1 percent from the field. However, SCC players could not overcome DMACC’s physicality or their own mistakes.

“We missed 12 layups and 16 free-throws … and too many second chance points,” Head Coach Joel Wooton said.

The Bears had a 20-10 advantage in second chance points and a 49-41 rebounding edge.

Jalen Wilkins-McCoy led the offense with 16 points and seven rebounds while Andrius provided a spark off the bench, scoring 13 points.

Lee Higgins led Des Moines with 21 points, and Wali Parks had 15 points and nine rebounds.

The loss dropped the team record to 4-7 on the season.
