BEATRICE – The Lady Storm came from behind in a match against Southwestern Community College to win in five sets.
The Storm won the first set with a score of 25-21, and then fell short in the next two sets with scores of 22-25 and 15-25. They then proceeded to win the final sets with scores of 25-13 and 15-13.
Head Coach Carrie Puhalla said, “We overcame a lot of obstacles … We had some players playing different positions, and we had some players that don’t normally play very much, play all five sets.”
She went on to say, “I think that Hillary Kostal and Kylie Betten both did a great job of stepping up and playing some great volleyball.”
Kostal, a sophomore for SCC, left her position as a libero to fill the setter position.
Betten, a freshman this year, has also stepped in to help out the Lady Storm.
“Our serve receive was much better,” observed Puhalla.
Sophomore Katie Pflanz finished the night with a double double, having thirteen kills and ten digs to assist in the Storm’s victory.
Overall, Puhalla was proud of the way the team battled back to win. “The fifth set was pretty close,” she said, “but they stuck to their guns and played some tough volleyball.”
