The video, which is approximately 11 minutes, is a capsule look at specific features of SCC, including the College’s primary locations. Stu Osterthun, SCC’s administrative director of public information and marketing, said the video primarily serves as an informative piece about the College, with a little marketing mixed in.
“None of the 10 segments that comprise the video is very long, making it a quick look at the College,” Osterthun said. “We purposely went the route of conveying factual information about SCC rather than a lot of fluff.”
Travis Fox, regional production manager at Time Warner Cable in Lincoln, produced the video with assistance from SCC.
Besides an overview segment, which lasts about three minutes, individual videos were produced for the Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford campuses, plus the Continuing Education Center and Entrepreneurship Center. Other segments cover the Academic Transfer program, financial aid, student services, and placement services.
“These are some of the primary areas of our public Website, so it made sense for the video to mirror that site,” Osterthun said. “There are many ways to produce a video, and we decided to go with the informative approach.”
The video is posted below as well as on the College’s YouTube channel. Each of the stand-alone segments also will be posted on the appropriate Web pages.
“Prospective students will find that these videos are very straight forward and will give them a pretty good idea of what SCC has to offer,” Osterthun said. “I think parents will appreciate important facts being conveyed in short bites of information.”
