“Meet the Experts & Incubator Expo” will take place from 4-7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Center, 285 S. 68th St. Place, Lincoln. The public is invited to attend and get free one-on-one consultations with experts in business coaching, funding, insurance, taxes and accounting, marketing, social media, and legal fields, plus workshops on social media and your business. Participants also will be able to meet current SCC Incubator business owners. Refreshments will be served. The workshops will be held at 4:30 and 6 p.m.
“This is a terrific event as the general public will have the chance to come in, sit down and talk with someone who has expertise in a particular field,” said Tim Mittan, director of SCC’s Entrepreneurship Center. “We’re also excited to showcase our business incubator tenants.”
Mittan will conduct a workshop titled “Could I Start My Own Business?” It will be held in Beatrice from 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Area Chamber of Commerce Conference Room, 205 N. Fourth St. Mittan, also a business coach, will conduct the free workshop to discuss the current business climate and what people need to know to succeed. Space is limited. Persons interested are asked to contact Lori Warner at the Chamber, 402-223-2338, for more information and to register.
The third event is the Third Annual 3-2-1 Quick Pitch Competition. It will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Stadium Club at Memorial Stadium, Stadium Street, Lincoln. Students from Nebraska high schools and two- and four-year colleges will compete for a $1,000 cash prize. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial, communication and presentation skills through a short “quick pitch” proposal for a new business venture, which they will deliver to a panel of entrepreneurially-minded experts from across Nebraska. They will have the opportunity to develop their idea for a new business and receive feedback from, and networking opportunities with, successful entrepreneurs and community leaders. The event is being presented by the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship, SCC’s Entrepreneurship Center, and Lincoln Public Schools Entrepreneurship Focus Program.
The Nebraska Summit on Entrepreneurship wraps up the week. It will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at Embassy Suites Omaha-LaVista Hotel and Conference Center, 12520 Westport Parkway, LaVista. Cost is $25 per person.
