Southeast Community College’s General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program received a new addition to its training facility, a 2011 GMC Terrain, thanks to the commitment of General Motors to SCC’s program.
The vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive, a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with direct injection and a six-speed automatic transaxle.Mark Christensen, instructor in SCC’s GM ASEP program, said the vehicle would be used to teach courses that are required by the ASEP program for satisfying GM Service Technical Training requirements.
Caliph Wyatt, GM ASEP and Automotive Youth Education Systems program manager, said providing vehicles to training programs was important to the company.
“We are proud to support training programs which prepare the next generation of GM technicians,” Wyatt said. “Our commitment to our customers goes well beyond building a quality product. That commitment includes quality service after the sale, ensuring we fix it right the first time. Our dedication to excellence starts at the training level, and by partnering with schools in communities around the globe, we can feel confident in our ability to provide our customers with an exceptional vehicle ownership experience.
The vehicle arrived at SCC’s program, located on the Milford Campus, in late July.
Persons interested in the GM ASEP program are asked to contact Christensen at 402-761-8306 or Instructor Jon Kisby at 402-761-8302. SCC’s program is 21 months long and awards the Associate of Applied Science degree upon successful completion. Persons can also visit: GM ASEP at southeast.edu.
