November proved to be a very busy month for the Beatrice PBL chapter. PBL hosted a guest speaker for American Enterprise Day, elected new officers and met with Fairbury and Tri-County high school FBLA members.
For American Enterprise Day on Wednesday, Nov. 16, Justin Schultis spoke to PBL members about his family business.
American Enterprise Day is recognized by FBLA-PBL each year on Nov. 15 to publicize and educate others about the American free enterprise system.
Schultis informed students about his successful family business and how FBLA and PBL have helped his career. Schultis sells real estate and is an auctioneer at Schultis & Son, Inc. in Fairbury.
He emphasized that good communication, networking and community involvement are important skills he learned from FBLA and PBL that helped him be successful.
Schultis also recommended competing in PBL conference events that relate to the business courses students have completed.
Schultis stated, “A lot of college courses and the competitive events are in line with each other.”
Then on Friday, Nov. 18 PBL installed new officers. Aimee Padgett of Beatrice is the new president of PBL, and vice-president is Shelby Hatesohl of Green Leaf, Kans.
Peggy Schmidt of Beatrice was re-elected as secretary, and this year’s historian is Khayom Qodirov from Tajikistan. Ronda Meritt of Beatrice is in charge of public relations, and Christine Cole of Beatrice is treasurer.
In addition to these activities, PBL met with Fairbury and Tri-County high school FBLA members in Fairbury on the evening of Monday, Nov. 14.
Guest speaker Tiffany Mewes-Dunn, Nebraska PBL ‘s Vice President of Membership, spoke to students regarding the business organization and its membership.
