AG Instructor Dennis Toalson’s boisterous voice could be heard throughout the student center today encouraging students to participate in the MESO (Multi Ethnic Student Organization) pie-eating contest.
When the pies were served to the twelve contestants, the hilarity was on. Some of the men were eating as fast as possible, one man with a serving spoon; some of the women were already full after only a bite or two. But everyone had fun.
The contest was not timed, but it took only about eight minutes after everyone started eating for D.J. Lunkwitz, the winner, to finish.
Everyone participating in the contest received a free t-shirt from the SCC Bookstore, and D.J. also received a free meal from the Snackbar.
Margarita Freyerherm, the MESO advisor, reported that the organization would be hosting more fun activities every other week in order to involve more students in MESO.
The banana and chocolate cream pies were purchased at Wal-Mart for this contest. The Snack bar ladies kept the pies in their cooler until the 11:30 a.m. start of the contest.
