BEATRICE – Marci Loschen, who began teaching at SCC on the Beatrice campus this summer quarter, is “happy to be back” in education.
Loschen taught high school for 14 years and then entered the business field four years ago. She worked at a banking software company in Lincoln and was the technical coordinator at Fairbury Public Schools.
This is her first experience teaching at the college level.
Loschen says, “I really enjoy education and I’m happy to be back.” She now teaches office and computer classes.
Loschen grew up near Kimball and began teaching after graduating from college. She earned her bachelor’s of education degree from the University of Wyoming in Laramie and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at University of Nebraska-Kearney.
When asked if she was always interested in a career in business and teaching she said, “Yes, I feel what I teach the students can really use.”
Loschen said students should “find something to be enthusiastic about. If you like what you are doing, life is easier.”
In her spare time, Loschen enjoys watching and participating in sports, reading and spending time with family.
“I really enjoy being a part of the SCC Staff,” Loschen says. “The students are fun, too. I look forward to a long career here.”
