The Student Senate of Southeast Community College on the Lincoln Campus has had a busy month planning several activities for students to attend during January.
Upcoming events hosted by the student senate include Skate Night at Skate Zone on Friday, Jan. 31. This will be free for students who show a current SCC ID card, and students are able to bring up to three guests for free. Skate Zone will be closed to the public during this time and skate rental is included.
To begin the quarter, the student senate provided students with free pop and popcorn throughout the day to welcome students to the campus on January 8. Popcorn was served in the Student Center to give students a snack during their day.
The student senate also hosted a hypnotist Jim Wand on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the SCC gym to allow students to take a brain break and have some fun with other students. Wand asked for several student volunteers to assist with the show and there was a great turn out.
Also during January, Aqua Massages were available for students in the Student Center to take a moment to relax from their hectic schedules. Students also had an option to have a neck and shoulder massage in a massage chair if the aqua massages weren’t available.
As a service project, the student senate hosted a blood drive on Wednesday, Jan. 27, in the Student Center for those individuals on campus to help the Blood Blank and donate. As a thank-you, the student senate provided sloppy joes, chips, drinks and cookies to all donors.
Students should check The Hub for information relating to activities or events sponsored by the Student Senate. Information regarding activities can also be found on The Source or the SCC Student Activities Facebook Page.
