The Southeast Community College Lady Storm Basketball team flattened Union College 77-47 Monday, Feb. 11, at the Truman Center.
Southeast jumped out to an early 17-2 lead and led 39-19 at half time.
The Lady Storm kept up the pressure in the second half, shooting 50 percent from three.
Head Coach Vicki Wooton said the Lady Storm took advantage of Union’s zone defense.
“We figured they would play a lot of zone, due to the fact they have some injuries…. and we were able to hit some open shots,” Wooton explained.
SCC featured a balanced scoring attack as four Lady Storm players finished in double figures.
Oliva Moore poured in 16 points, including 7-8 from field, Kiana Alexander and Callie Percival each had 12 points, and Amanda Fluker added 10.
Wooton said that she has been telling the team to “share the ball” all season long.
“We have been working on it all season, and I think they realize that if they share the ball they have a good chance of getting it back and scoring,” Wooton said.
Union was held to 27 percent shooting for the game. The Warriors were led by Jamie Stanley and Mattison Jenks, who scored 14 and 13 points respectively.
SCC’s record improves to 16-11 on the season.
