It is not uncommon to hear a comment made about a college sports team during your daily grind. College sports are everywhere.
While an opportunity to play college athletics might have escaped some, Southeast Community College offers every student the opportunity to play.
Intramural sports offer many opportunities at SCC for a student looking to participate in sports. Student activities coordinator Rachel Mason said, “We offer many sports including Volleyball, sand volleyball, basketball, pool, and Ping-Pong.”
Students reported that being in intermural sports is a great stress reliever outside of the classroom. Basketball participant Jacob Slough said, “I like playing basketball once a week. It is a way to relieve some stress and hang out with friends.”
Any student enrolled at SCC is able to participate in intramural sports.
When questioned on what the best way to get started is, Mason said, “Students normally get their own team together. There is a form they need to fill out within one week of the quarter beginning that contains their roster.”
“If a student is unable to come up with a team,” she added, “we have free agent forms the student can fill out and we can help place them on a team.”
Intramural sports at SCC welcomes all students to participate. Intramurals are about having fun and hanging out with friends outside of the classroom. It can be a fun time mixed with some competition.
