SCC Lady Storm standout Breanna Grant has been named the National Junior College Division II player of the week for the week of Jan.26 through Feb. 1.

The 5”6 sophomore averaged 26.5 pts, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals in wins over Central Community College (93-56) and Hesston (76-57).

Co-Head Coach Vicki Wooton said Grant is very deserving of the award.

“(Breanna) leads by example and plays much bigger than her size,” Wooton said. “She does whatever the team needs for the team to be successful.”

The award comes at a time where Grant and the Lady Storm seem to be peaking as the season winds down.

“Before the last three weeks she wasn’t even scoring in double figures,” Wooton said.

Southeast (15-6) has won seven in a row and recently moved up to 17^th in the NJCAA DII rankings.

They take on the Concordia Junior Varsity Friday, Feb. 6, at the Truman Center.
