The fifth time turned out to be the charm for the SCC Lady Storm as they beat up Central Community College 15-8 in the second game of a double header held Monday, April 15, at Hannibal Park.
SCC had lost four in a row to the Lady Raiders after dropping the first game, 5-3.
Head Coach Tiffany Higgins said she was pleased to finally get a win against CCC.
“We finally came out and played like we knew we could against Central in the second game,” Higgins exclaimed.
“The first game much like the past three against them, we lacked intensity,” Higgins continued. “(But) we brought it the second game.”
Emily Dober; Tiffany Talkington; and Michaela Parks each blasted a home run to power the Lady Storm attack.
The Lady Storm dropped a doubleheader to Western Community College, 10-2 and 9-6, on Saturday, April 20.
Higgins said she is encouraged with the team’s progress despite the losses.
“We have been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride this season regarding our game intensity,” Higgins clarified. “We may have lost those games, but we gained a lot more from them.”
“I am confident that we are peaking at the right time and will be successful in the remaining games of the season and into post-season play,” Higgins concluded.
The season has come down to two final dates for Southeast.
The team will take on Highland Community College at home, as part of Sophomore Night, on Wednesday, April 24.
Southeast will conclude the regular season Friday, April 26, at Hastings JV.
