The Third International Day of Navruz was solemnized in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe on Sunday, March 25.
Keeping the status of an international event, the Third International Day of Navruz has gathered international government officials to honor and celebrate International Navruz Holiday. The presidents of Tajikistan, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan along with the official representatives of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, China, Uzbekistan and India participated in the celebrations.
Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon gave start to Navruz celebrations, delivering his welcome address to international officials. In his address, Rahmon emphasized the historical and cultural importance of Navruz Holiday.
The presidents and other international officials expressed gratitude to Iran for hosting First and Second International Days of Navruz. They also highlighted that Navruz celebrations facilitate for the development of friendship, solidarity and cooperation of those countries united under Navruz cultural heritage.
Several events dedicated to the International Day of Navruz took place in Dushanbe under the motto “Navruz – the cultural and ethical unity of nations for the sake of bright future”.
All the officials unanimously expressed their satisfaction with those initiatives taken over by UN and UESCO to grant Navruz the status of an international holiday.
The officials also thanked Tajik government for hosting the Third International Day of Navruz and supported Turkmenistan’s proposal to host the next International Day of Navruz in 2013 in Ashgabat.
