People who wish to make a monetary contribution to Southeast Community College’s Educational Foundation now have another option.
Online giving is now available to anyone who wishes to contribute to the Foundation’s Scholarship, Partnership or Technology funds. Richard Becker, executive director of the Foundation, said the electronic option will make it more convenient for people who prefer to not write checks.
“The ability to complete various financial transactions online has been available for a long time,” Becker said. “Many people don’t use checks to pay their bills. They have grown comfortable with doing business online. Hopefully, this online giving option will make it more convenient for people to donate to SCC.”
To make a contribution to the Foundation online, go to www.southeast.edu, SCC’s public website. Access the Foundation web page by going to the QUICKLINKS menu and clicking on GIVING, or click on the DISCOVER SCC tab on the homepage and click on Educational Foundation.
Once there, visitors will see four giving options to choose from: Scholarship Fund, Partnership Fund, Technology Fund, and Specific Scholarship. Information is available for each option, as well as a list of instructions on how to use the tool, which is set up through PayPal. Payment is by credit card. One-time gifts do not require a PayPal account. However, those wishing to make a recurring gift (monthly, quarterly or annually) will need to create a PayPal account.
SCC’s Educational Foundation is in the final year of its five-year “Invest in the Best” campaign. To date, the campaign has raised nearly $9 million. During the first four years, thousands of students have received scholarships to help pay for their education at SCC.
“SCC is the most affordable higher education option in Nebraska,” Becker said, “but it’s still out of reach for many people. The financial resources the Foundation has available to students in the form of scholarships can’t be overstated during these difficult economic times. The Foundation can make the dream of a college education a reality.”
According to SCC Financial Aid Office statistics, more than 80 percent of SCC students receive some form of financial aid.
