The SCC baseball team dropped a weekend series to Dakota County Technical College 2-1, Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, at Rosemount, Minn.

Southeast opened with a 3-1 loss.  The Storm failed to generate much offense and committed four errors.

SCC dropped the second game of the double header 2-1 in a game where the Storm outhit Dakota 6-1.

DCTC broke a 1-1 tie in the 6th inning thanks to a sacrifice fly that followed a bunt and a wild pitch.

Head Coach Dion Parks commended Dakota on the unusual way the opponent took the lead.

“They executed that situation very well,” Parks said.

Southeast salvaged a game on Sunday, winning 5-2. The Storm trailed 2-1 before driving home three runs in the 7th inning and added an insurance run in the 8th.

Dylan Yost highlighted the offense with an RBI triple. Albert Johnson and Paul Morrow both added sacrifice runs.

Colton Adams (6-0) threw a complete game for the Storm, scattering seven hits while striking out six batters.

Despite the series loss, Parks came away feeling good about his team.

“(There was) good pitching in all three games,” Parks explained. “We were on the wrong side of the scoreboard Saturday … and Sunday it turned around for us.”

The 14th ranked team in Division II is now 27-13 on the season, and Parks remains confident.

“We have three weeks left, and we are (getting) better every single day,” Parks continued. “Sometimes it doesn’t reflect in individual performance and team wins and losses.”
