LINCOLN – Going to school full-time is like having a full time job. Papers, quizzes and finals are not all for many college students. There are many students who also hold a full-time job as a parent.
Southeast has taken initiative to help these students who also work hard to support their family. Lincoln now offers the Child Development Center.
The CDC is located in the C section of the Lincoln SCC campus and is open from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The center takes children from ages six weeks to kindergarten age and features several part-time programs for older children.
So for those students who have to get back to school after having their child, they will have a place right on campus for them.
The CDC has a range of programs, each which cater to different wants.
The first is the Childcare Assistance Program, which is put in place for children six weeks to five years. It offers a structured schedule with age appropriate activities alongside a pre-school program.
The children receive breakfast, lunch and a snack. There is also an outdoor classroom environment available.
The next program, Adventure Mini-Camps, is for children after kindergarten age up to 11 years old. This is held during the school year and only on days LPS is off; it offers activities and games all day.
The third and final program, Summer Camp, is held for children 6-11 years of age. Summer Camp is a weekly activity including field trips and themed days.
The incorporation of these three programs right on campus offers students peace of mind.
Space is limited, but financial aid is available, and it is advised to apply early.
