Beatrice Area Chamber and Workforce Development are co-hosting the annual job fair at the Beatrice City Auditorium on Tuesday, Nov 6, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
This fair is for Middle school, High school and college students and for employment seekers of any age in the types of jobs available in the Beatrice area.
Between fifteen and twenty-five exhibitors will have booths with the opportunity to market their business to all attending, providing an opportunity for employers to find good candidates to hire, explain what it takes to work in that line of business and promote educational opportunities to people of all ages.
Students and seekers will have the opportunity to attend break-out sessions, sponsored by the Chamber, instructing them on different topics such as job seeking 101, education quest, job forecasting, personal financing, using social media as a job search aid and 10 steps to entrepreneurship.
“This fair is different from others because it aims to get younger generations to think about what they want to do and if they want to stay in the area and older workers to explore other types of work available in the area,” said Karen Stohs, from Workforce Development.
The Workforce Development booth will have labor market information to help inquirers to research career paths. The booth will also have information on where to find interest assessments, what jobs are hot and what kinds of jobs make more money.
Stohs, Deb Sanne and Jody Easter, all from Workforce Development, will be attending their booth throughout the day.
Workforce Development also offers, at their Adams Hall office, job placement, job search workshops, veteran assistance, resume skills and interview skills including mock interviews.
Workforce also has a computer lab and a website for researching the labor market and job postings that can be accessed anywhere at neworks.nebraska.gov.
