Financial aid, veterans’ workshops scheduled at SCC

The Financial Aid Office at Southeast Community College is hosting a number of free workshops to benefit parents and veterans.

A Financial Aid Parents Night will take place on the Milford, Beatrice and Lincoln campuses. The free workshop is open to all parents and legal guardians. It takes place from 5-6 p.m. Sept. 4 on the Milford Campus (Dunlap Center A & B), 5-6 p.m. Sept. 11 on the Beatrice Campus (Kennedy Center Conference Room 334), and 6-8 p.m. Sept. 18 on the Lincoln Campus (U104-106).

Participants are asked to bring all of their financial aid questions to the workshop and receive assistance from SCC’s Financial Aid staff. Information regarding loans, scholarships and work-study will be covered, as well as assistance filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Those interested in receiving help filling out the FAFSA are asked to bring their 2013 tax return. Also, if a student has lost his or her financial aid, questions regarding probation and/or termination will be addressed.

A Veterans Educational Benefits Workshop also is planned for all three campuses. The Milford Campus workshop was held Sept. 2. The Beatrice Campus workshop is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Jackson Hall Conference Room 401. The Lincoln Campus workshop is set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 in the T-3 Computer Lab.

No appointment is necessary. Staff members will be available to answer any questions about filing for VA education benefits. Questions about the Montgomery GI Bill, tuition assistance or dependent benefits, or how your benefits are applied to your student account also will be addressed.
