Attendance was called to start the meeting. Senate Vice President Candi Hemmer made note that twelve programs with twenty five senators represented the student body. “A reminder that three absences will dismiss you (from the senate),” she commented to the public.
After attendance, the senate lined up for the group pictures. Afterwards, President Nate Smith noted that the community service product for the Friendship Home.
The Friendship Home is seeking pillows, pillowcases, cleaning supplies, diapers and feminine products for donations. Senate members can receive one entry into a drawing for senate swag, such as t-shirts for every five items donated to the Friendship Home.
New business concluded the meeting with a reminder that more senate members are required for Graduation. In addition, the senate banquet will be held in room E2 on March 12th.
Upcoming events include Nutrition Day on Monday, March 5th, Treat Day on Thursday, March 8th. These events will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the student center. In addition, the Lincoln Ice Box will host the SCC sponsored Ice Skating day from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 11th.
Meetings take place every Monday SCC is open in the Student Center from 3:30 to 4:30. Visitors are welcome to watch the proceedings. Visitors interested in representing their program in the senate must become verified by their departments, bearing a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average.
