The Storm came out running on all cylinders as they avenged a home loss to Hesston with a dominating 96-72 road win, Saturday, Nov. 26, at Hesston.

In the 86-74 home loss, SCC allowed Hesston’s Coy Campbell and Zac Neely to score 25 points each. However, this time around, the Storm defense was ready for both players.

“We did a really good job of getting back in transition, and not allowing Campbell to get in the paint and create,” Assistant Coach Aaron Block explained.  “Taylor Britt did a really good job on him.”

Block said the SCC was ready for Neely this time around. “This game we did a much better job of denying him the ball in the paint,” Block said.

In the first contest, Hesston shot 50 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from the three-point line. In the rematch, SCC held the Larks to 29 percent shooting and 3-15 from beyond the arc.

“We just played with more energy and effort,” Block explained. “We did a better job executing offensively, which in turn helped us in defensive transition. “

For the second time in as many games, an SCC player came off the bench to lead the team in points.

Dan Quesenberry scored 21 points. The freshman hit from Salem, UT. hit 6-9 from the field, 2-2 from the three-point line and 7-9 from the charity stripe.

The Storm achieved balanced scoring, with five players in double figures.

The win improves the team record to 5-4.

The players take a three-game winning streak into Tuesday’s home contest with Midland JV, Tuesday, Nov. 29. Tip-off is set for 7:30 and will be streamed live on sccstorm.com.
