Storm defeat the Fort Scott Greyhounds 70-60 in SCC Holiday Classic

Storm defeat the Fort Scott Greyhounds 70-60 in SCC Holiday Classic

Jalen Wilkins-McCoy‘s 19 points paced Southeast to a 70-60 win over Fort Scott in the first night of the Holiday Classic in the Truman Center.

Wilkins-McCoy went 9-10 from the field to power the offense in a night where the team shot 53.6 percent.

Despite the offense, the pesky Greyhounds hung around thanks to Tyler Zinn’s 22 points and poor free throw shooting from the Storm.

SCC hit just 46 percent from the charity stripe; however, SCC was never seriously threatened in the second half as the team kept leads of 9, 10 and 11 points for large part of the half.

Incredibly enough, Fort Scott was only able to go to the line three times in the entire game, hitting 2-3.

Marcus Taylor-Knighten was a big factor for the Storm offense coming off the bench. The sophomore hit 7-12 shots for 15 points. He also corralled seven rebounds.

Taylor-Knigthen’s front court play took some pressure off Daniel Quesnberry, who hit 4-8 from downtown and ended up with 14 points.

Andrius Jones managed just two points, but he ran the offense to a tune of 11 assists.

SCC improved to a record of 5-7 overall with the win.
