Southeast Community College Head Volleyball Coach Carrie Puhalla recently announced the signing of two prep athletes to play for the Storm next fall.
Emily Schrempp of Hartington and Hannah Mitchell of Axtell, Kan., signed letters of intent to play for SCC next season. The Storm volleyball team is on SCC’s Beatrice Campus.
Schrempp, the daughter of Scott and Jan Schrempp, led Hartington Cedar Catholic to the Class C2 state championship this fall, establishing a Class C2 state record for assists in a single season with 1,052. That included 115 in three state-tournament matches. Schrempp earned a spot on the Lincoln Journal Star’s Class C2 All-Tournament Team and the publication’s Class C2 All-State Second Team. She was a First-Team All-Mid-State Conference selection, was named to the Omaha World-Herald Class C2 All-Tournament Team, and to the World-Herald’s Class C2 Honorable Mention All-State Team.
Hartington Cedar Catholic finished the season with a 31-5 record.
Mitchell, the daughter of Bruce and Eulala Mitchell of Summerfield, Kan., was a member of the Axtell High School volleyball team where she lettered and started on the varsity all four years. During those four years she was named to the All-Twin Valley League First Team her junior and senior years and to the league’s second team her sophomore season.
As a senior, Mitchell received All-Class 1A Division II Honorable Mention honors from the Kansas Volleyball Association.
