Southeast Community College has been awarded a $2,500 grant from DuPont Pioneer.
Annie Erichsen, co-chair of SCC’s Agriculture Business & Management Technology program on the Beatrice Campus, said the money would be used to buy supplies and equipment.
“It’s important to keep up with the changing world of GPS and precision agriculture,” Erichsen said. “We are very grateful to DuPont Pioneerfor these funds.”
Greg Carpenter, account manager for DuPont Pioneer, said it was important for ag education to stay current with technology.
“Technology is not something in the future, it’s here now,” Carpenter said. “Every cooperative, implement dealer and seed company is looking for college graduates with experience in variable rate technology, shape files and global positioning satellites. The new class being offered by SCC will go a long way toward providing cutting-edge technology, training and placement for students graduating from SCC in the future.”
