On Monday, February 20th Nebraska Entrepreneurship Week came to Lincoln with the Meet the Experts and Incubator Demo.
The Southeast Community College Entrepreneurship Center, located at 258 S 68th Street Place in Lincoln, hosted the events in is lobby and incubator floor. It featured keynote speakers on Social Media Marketing and testimonials from the tenants of the Incubator floor.
In addition, a slew of financial, legal and other experts provided free consultation in their particular department as a service to would-be entrepreneurs with representatives from firms across the city.
Mr. Kevin Nordhues presented the Social Media break-out session at 4:30 p.m. that day, addressing the potential clients reached by services such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. “In sixty seconds there have been…58,000 new tweets,” he began. “You don’t want to be the person who misses out.”
He noted that selling the brand is a key to internet marketing. “51% of Facebook users say they are more likely to buy from brands they follow,” Nordhues spoke. “Most companies just don’t get it yet!”
Incubator tenants such as the Argyle Octopus, a promotional materials company and Changing Spaces, a senior “rightsizing” and relocation services company had a chance to talk about their business experience as well. These tenants pay a reasonable rent fee to the SCC Incubator. In exchange, the Incubator tenants agree to participate in counseling by the Entrepreneurship Center Staff, headed by Entrepreneurship Center Director Tim Mittan.
