RoxAnn Coudeyras, business instructor and co-chair of the Business Administration and Office Professional programs at Southeast Community College’s Beatrice Campus, recently received awards for her service to two professional organizations.
Coudeyras received the Outstanding Educator Award from the Nebraska Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Delta Pi Epsilon at the organization’s annual banquet June 6 during the Nebraska Career Education Conference in Kearney. On June 10 she was presented the Nebraska State Business Education Association’s Service Award during the opening banquet of the Mountain-Plains Business Education Association’s annual conference in Omaha.
“I am truly humbled because they both come from my peers and colleagues in my profession,” Coudeyras said. “I appreciate being thought in such a positive way by those in my profession.”
Sharon Dexter, who serves as co-chair of SCC’s programs alongside Coudeyras, spoke on behalf of the programs.
“Our department is proud of RoxAnn for receiving both awards for excellence,” Dexter said. “She is a well-deserving individual.”
Coudeyras started teaching business classes at SCC in fall 2000. The Liberty native is a graduate of Barneston Consolidated Schools.
Her teaching philosophy is simple: Everyone can learn if they have a true desire to do so.
“I will help any student as long as they want to be helped,” she said.
Coudeyras said her involvement in DPE and NSBEA has benefitted her professionally.
“My professional organizations have certainly been an important part of my life and have helped me to hopefully improve my education of students,” she said.
The DPE Outstanding Educator Award has been given annually since 1986 to an educator who has made a significant impact on education in Nebraska. Coudeyras has been a DPE member since 1985 and has served on scholarship committees, as the newsletter co-editor, recording secretary, president, and past-president of the Nebraska chapter.
Delta Pi Epsilon is a national graduate honorary society for professionals who support and promote scholarship, leadership and cooperation toward the advancement of education for and about business. It is founded on a shared mission to improve the teaching of business through the engagement in scientific research, the development of leadership skills, and the advancement of the profession, providing members with team-building and networking opportunities.
The NSBEA award is given to a highly-dedicated professional who has made significant contributions in the form of service to NSBEA and business education at the local, state and regional levels. Coudeyras has served on the NSBEA Board for many years as a member or chair of various committees such as the Awards Committee. She has served as the Capitol District Representative and currently serves as the Postsecondary Representative to the Board. She also served as program co-chair for the 2008 M-PBEA conference.
