Four members of Southeast Community College’s Beatrice Campus Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda attended the Nebraska Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference in Kearney April 5-6.
SCC students who attended the conference are Maria Galeru from Moldova, Becky Gasper from Fairbury, Peggy Schmidt from Beatrice, and Razia Sultana from Pakistan. Karen Emerson, advisor, accompanied the students.
The students attended and competed in the state events prior to and at the conference. Member Chelsea Antons also competed but was unable to attend the conference.
The following students placed in the top five in the state in their events and were recognized on stage at the awards program:
Galeru: Third place, Future Business Executive; fourth place, Business Presentation.
Schmidt: Third place, Human Resource Management; fifth place, Public Speaking.
Schmidt also was named to Who’s Who in Nebraska PBL, and she sang the National Anthem to open the conference.
The SCC-Beatrice Chapter of PBL received a Silver Award of Excellence for activities and community service conducted during the past year.
Former SCC-Beatrice PBL memberand SCC graduate Brandon Staroscik placed in numerous events:
First in International Business, second in Cyber Security, fifth in Computer Concepts, and second in Networking Concepts. Staroscik is from DeWitt and is attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
