BEATRICE – SCC’s Practical Nursing Program held a health fair on Friday, Oct. 28, at the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Beatrice.
“The Practical Nursing students gained a lot of experience doing the health fair, said Practical Nursing instructor Alice Alexander. “Some of Blue Valley Community Action employs provided us with several nursing stations they performed a variety of health tests, such as hemoglobin, blood pressure, blood glucose, and pulse rates.”
A representative from Southwick Chiropractic & Wellness and Jefferson Community Health Center was present at the health fair.
Southwick was there giving spinal check and information about how to have good back posture, and Jefferson Community Health Center were also giving out free flu shots to anyone that needed it.
Also at the Fair was Kelly Vyhnalek, a representative from Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court at the health fair he showed the students about health screening, immunization and hand washing.
“This health fair was very intersecting”, said Practical Nursing instructor Matha Howe.” It was a big help for the Practical Nursing students for their awareness of their future careers.”
