Southeast Community College at Milford will be hosting its quarterly Blood Drive through the Community Blood Bank on Monday, June 3, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Dunlap Center, A & B.

Citizens of the Milford community and surrounding areas are also welcomed and encouraged to donate as well as students and faculty of Southeast Community College. Flyers will be posted around town with blood drive details.

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the Nebraska Community Blood Bank partners with Home Town Heroes and will donate $7 per unit of blood that is collected from the SCC blood drive, once the unit quota is met.

Students and faculty are advised to pre-register, but walk-ins are welcomed. Participants can register online and are advised to email Stacey Harrifeld to start this registration process. Stacey Harrifeld, Student Life Coordinator-Milford, says she looks forward to this annual event to give back to the community.

Harrifeld recommends all donors to eat and drink very well the day before giving blood.

“Drinking water is key, and eat something that contains a lot of iron,” Harrifeld advised.

The day of the donation, donors should continue to drink water throughout the day and avoid exercising right before, she added.

After donating, the Blood Bank will mail out ID donor cards to participants that will include the individual’s blood type. This card will provide for an easier donating process in the future.

To contact Stacey Harrifeld for registration, email [email protected].

Participants will need a photo ID at time of donation.
