BEATRICE – The SCC Men’s Basketball team went into last weeekend’s tournament undefeated following back-to-back victories the previous weekend.
On Friday, Nov. 4, SCC played Concordia JV.
Coach Joel Wooton said, “We again struggled in the first half leading only 28-25, but then clamped down defensively and got us going offensively to pull away.”
At the end of the game, the Storm came to win the game 79-39, raising their record to 2-0.
Freshman Delquan Thomas of Louisville, Ky., finished the game with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Storm played Midland JV. They played their most complete game so far this year defeating Midland 77-56 to improve their record to 3-0.
Venton Wilder of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Delquan Thomas both led the storm with a combination of 27 points.
Coach Wooton said, “We had four starters in double figures, our guards really did a good job rebounding.Our defense dominated the first half of the game.”
Wooton said The Storm is improving game by game. Their next match up was on Thursday, Nov. 10, against Northwestern Colorado at the Colby tournament. Results were unavailable at press time.
