“This is one of the best things Lincoln has to offer in good food,” Mary Bryant of Lincoln asserted.
Bryant spoke fondly of the Luncheon and Dinner Series at College Inn Restaurant and the Lincoln Campus of Southeast Community College, room E2/E3.
“It’s really a nice opportunity they provide (to Lincoln),” she began. “My husband and I have been coming for – gosh – 12 years!”
The Challenge attended the Buffet Luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 – one of many events catered by the SCC Food Service/Hospitality students.
Program Chair Jo Taylor praises her students’ efforts. “The Students are just so proud of what they do,” she noted. “They put so incredibly much work into it.”
The theme of the events is also organized by the students. “What the students decided was ‘The Evolution of Food,’” Class Instructor Gerrine Kirby explained.
The Evolution of Food theme introduced numerous platters from Cherries Jubilee to Ambrosia Salad and their history and dates, Kirby continued.
Marcia Blender, division secretary of Ag and Natural Resources manages all the department luncheons, buffets and dinners.
She explained that each event is managed by a different class. “(Here,) we introduce the students to a buffet style of serving,” she commented. “(Other events)…we sit at tables and students take our orders.”
