Lazlo’s Brewery and Grill is known for both its delicious food and locally brewed beer however, many don’t realize that Lazlo’s also offers a number of free or nearly free activities.
“I truly love each and every one of our events,” states Anna Otto, the Event Coordinator for Lazlo’s Brewery and Grill and Fireworks Restaurant. “We see a different type of crowd at each event, and they are always excited to come and have a great time.”
“We’re passionate about food, we’re passionate about beer, and we’re helping people realize that they really do pair well together to highlight the best flavors of both,” continues Otto. “We put a lot of time into making sure everything is perfect.”
It’s easy to see how the effort pays off. The events are fun, and I usually walk away from them having learned something new. “It’s the only time you’re encouraged to drink your education!” laughs Otto.
There are many events to choose from including tours of the brewery, taste-testing of new beers and a five-course-themed dinner with complimenting beers for each course.
Lazlo’s Brewery Tour is held on the first non-holiday Monday of every month. During the tour, visitors can tour the Empyrean Brewery brew house and head into the grain room where they will get to sample five craft beers from around the world. This event is held at the Haymarket location and is free. However, space is limited to the first 150 people.
Before heading out to the Brewery Tour, be sure to stop by Lazlo’s in the Haymarket to participate in their Cask Night. Fresh casks are tapped on the first non-holiday Monday of the month at 4 p.m. so you have the chance to taste fresh-brewed beer the old fashioned way. Cask night is free to attend, plus the cost of beer consumed.
Beer Quest is another fun event to attend. At Beer Quest, visitors get to taste-test home brewed beers and vote for their favorite. The winner will be brewed by Empyrean and featured as a seasonal beer during the months between Beer Quest events.
“It’s a great interactive event,” states Otto. “For those folks who enjoy a great pint, what could be more fun than helping Lazlo’s select what beer to brew next?” The event is held at the Haymarket location in February, May, August and November and tickets are $20.
Lazlo’s also offers a five-course dinner called Brewed Awakening. Brewed Awakening is a themed dinner, and the menu for each Brewed Awakening is created specifically for that event. There is a beer paired with each course, and recent themes include The Art of Darkness (all stouts and porters), Beers of the UK (Irish and British Beers) and Beers of Summer, which included summer seasonal beers from around the country. Tickets to Brewed Awakening cost $50 each.
Lazlo’s is a Lincoln-based, locally owned and operated business, and it offers some great ways to experience local flavor and do something different in Lincoln.
