The Lady Storm exploded for six points in the first 45 seconds and never looked back as they easily handled Southwestern Community College 71-47, Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Truman Center.

Head Coach Vicki Wooton called it “An entire team effort” as every player contributed to the win.

The coach cited tough defense and strong shooting as the reasons SCC jumped out to a 20 point half-time lead.

The team employed a full court press much of the game that helped bother SWCC into 30 turnovers, and the half-court defense held the Lady Spartans to 29 percent from the field.

Freshman Veshae Wilkinson led Southeast with 20 points and six rebounds. Kenae Merrit, a sophomore transfer from Midland, came off the bench to score 14 points. Sophomore Brianna Grant added nine points to go along with four steals.

The win brings Southeast’s record to 5-3 on the season. Next up is a road trip to Brown Mackie, Tuesday, Nov. 25.
