The SCC Lady Storm overcame a slow start to beat Concordia JV 56-44, on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Truman Center.
Southeast led 23-19 at halftime and shot just 25 percent from the field.
“We got off to a very slow start, and (had) too many turnovers in the first half,” Head Coach Vicki Wooton said.
The Lady Storm got it going in the second half, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 33-25.
“We came out strong and cut down on turnovers,” Wooton said.
SCC’s defense held Concordia to 19 percent shooting from the floor for the game.
Chelsea Savage led the way with 15 points. Brianna Grant scored 12 points and grabbed 10 boards as one of two players to notch a double/double. Cyneia Hunter had 11 points and 16 rebounds off the bench.
“Cyneia had a great game,” Wooton said. “She has been working hard in practice crashing the boards.”
Dionne Martin was a force defensively, swatting four balls and pulling down ten rebounds to go along with eight points.
Southeast outrebounded Concordia 56-53 for the game.
“We did a great job rebounding against a much bigger team,” Wooton concluded.
