Lady Storm hopes to improve record in season’s second half

The Storm Women’s Basketball team looks to more will power and discipline to gain a good second half of the season.

The team had a rough start to its season, but to gain a second better half, coach Lynn Schlake said the team is going to be “playing harder, cutting down on turnovers [and] improving shooting percentage.”

From the first half of the season, the women gained their win by coming together as a team and developing, at the end of the game, a desire to avoid losing, as Schlake stated.

When asked what improvement he would like to see as a team, Schlake stated he would like to see them “playing hard all the time, not just when we want to.”

Working as a team is a vital part of basketball, but to do that, a team must have individual strengths as well, he added.

The team has tough inside post players, and several guards that are good shooters, stated Schlake. Even though the team has tough posts, Schlake said they are more of an offensive team.

The coaching staff of the women’s basketball team works well together to provide a good structure to coach the team according to Schlake.

To create a better atmosphere for the team, Coach Schlake said spectators can help by “com[ing] to more games and get[ing] involved.”

Schlake has been coaching basketball for about 14 years with experience in both men’s and women’s teams.

To bring a better second half of the season, Coach Schlake plans to keep motivating his team and bring out the drive of the team to win games.
