Lady Storm finishes inaugural weekend 1-1

The SCC Lady Storm went 1-1 in the Central Community College Classic held Saturday, Nov. 1, and Sunday, Nov. 2, at Columbus.

Southeast dominated the York Junior Varsity 86-37 in the first game. Veshae Wilkenson led SCC with 14 points, followed by Kenae Merrit with 12 points.

SCC enjoyed a 19-2 run in the game and lead by as many as 51 points.

Southeast dropped the second game to Concordia JV 65-60.

Head Coach Vicki Wooton said the team did a good job defensively, but were hampered by poor shot selection.

SCC forced 23 turnovers, but hit just 33.9 percent of their shots.

The difference in the game came as Concordia out-shot Southeast 81 to 56 percent at the free throw line.

Brianna Grant led the Lady Storm with 11 points and 10 assists, while Chelsea Savage added 14 points and notched four steals to bolster the defense.
