Every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. a group of local Licolnites gather in a parking lot on the corners of 48th street and Madison. They enjoy fresh food, live music, cool drinks and eclectic clothing and gifts. And they would love for you to join them.
The University Place Community Market runs from June 15th to September 21st. It is free to enter, and there is no pressure to buy. The Vendors are friendly and knowledgeable about their products and often offer free samples. Local bands play fun music to set the feel-good mood of the market.
Picnic tables are scattered throughout, and the public is welcome to sit and enjoy the music and food.
If person has a couple bucks to spare he or she will find an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade breads, granola, local honey, fresh squeeze lemonade and sweet tea and dozens of other options.
After working up appetite grazing the stands visitors can swing by one of the hot food tents where local chefs cook up inexpensive treats. Last Wednesday, Indian cuisine was featured. A chicken tikka kebab, mint chutney and water were only five bucks.
