The Lincoln Art Walk held on the First Friday of every month for the past 10 years is a special and fun event.
Starting at 5pm on the first Friday of every month and spanning over the downtown area with almost 50 participating art studios, galleries, and businesses, the First Friday’s Art Walk, in Lincoln, is one of the largest in the country.
Local artists and performers showcase their work to a large variety of people.
First time attendee, Matthew Cline, of Lincoln, said, “I can’t believe I have never been here before!” while sampling artisan beer at the art studios and businesses above “A Novel Idea Bookstore. The first Friday of every month finds these studios open to the public, showcasing a large variety of local art.
People are able to browse this local artwork and sample local foods and beverages, expanding their knowledge of the community.
Attending First Friday’s is free of charge and usually ends around 10 pm. Maps are available through the Downtown Lincoln Association or at any of the participating businesses.
With the weather warming up and UNL close by, The First Friday Art Walk draws a large amount of people.
Artists and enthusiasts alike can gather together to appreciate local art and to meet new people.
