The Hub, the greatest software engineering feat since the dawn of civilization…okay maybe it’s not that big of a deal, but one thing you can say about the Hub is it certainly gets the job done.
With a little patience and attention to detail, you can be successful on a system that is getting many to the podium in no time, on their time.
Your first time logging on will more than likely be filled with confusion, frustration and possibly even anger, but seeing that the first week of any quarter is the most important, you might want to pull it together and stop crying; you’re in college now, you big baby.
Communication is the key when using the Hub accessing Moodle courses there, and the ability to manage contacts, see who they are and openly exchange messages without limitations makes communication the easiest and most useful tool on this online learning system.
Whether this is your first quarter taking online courses or your last quarter, it will be stressful figuring out specific teacher requirements and due dates for each of your individual courses.
Ask on the Hub and you shall receive; just as soon as your instructors or colleagues have checked their respective inboxes, they are certain to respond; and if they don’t, just ask somebody else.
Instructors will always respond promptly, and you’ll always find kindness in the hearts of Nebraskans. No matter where you are from, the Hub connects many people with similar academic goals in mind, creating a simulated classroom experience that in some cases is more flexible and rewarding than a classroom atmosphere.
It is recommended that you login daily to stay current, and this is no doubt my best piece of advice for using the Hub.
Logging in daily will give you a better understanding of the Hub format, its many tools and instructor expectations.
First observations of the Hub for any student are that it may appear cluttered, even if you are familiar with the site. This eyesore will soon be alleviated after thoroughly reading all introductory materials and becoming accustom to the flow and format of each individual course.
Don’t be shy; somebody has the answer. It is extremely difficult for some to understand the Hub terminology and easier for others. I can reassure you that instructors at Southeast Community College make explanations as comprehensible as possible for their individual courses.
So what’s left to worry about? There is nothing to worry about, because you’re on your way.
With a little communication, attention to detail, patience and daily logins, you should be standing at the podium, transferring or beginning your career in no time, on your time with the Hub, at Southeast Community College.
