BEATRICE – Despite ending the first half on a 24-11 run, the Storm men’s basketball team was unable to pull away late in a 91-89 loss to Johnson County on Tuesday night.

The storm was led offensively by Snyder Cenecharles (27 points) and Taylor Britt (22 points).

SCC was outscored 55-41 in the second half and was largely unable halt an offensive charge by the 5-0 Cavaliers.

Johnson County was led offensively by Danzel Wright, whose 6/8 3-point shooting in the second half commanded the Cavalier rally.

The Storm controlled the entire first half and extended its lead to 13 points at one point.

Snyder Cenecharles made a contested 3-point shot at the buzzer to end the first half after Johnson County went on a 7-0 run themselves.

SCC maintained its lead through the entire second half until a free throw gave JCC an 85-84 lead following the sixth three pointer of the half for Danzel Wright.

The Storm was outshot 72.4 percent to 50 percent in the second half, as its inability to defend the perimeter hurt it in the end.

Southeast will look to rebound on Thursday against Doane in Beatrice.
