The SCC baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Des Moines Area Community College, 21-10 and 5-1, Saturday, Mar. 20, at Christensen Field in Beatrice.
Assistant Coach Dion Parks said DMACC showed why they are the number two team in Division II.
“They came in and hit well, and they have good arms,” Parks said.
In the first game, Des Moines exploded for eight runs in the top of the second inning to go up 9-1.
The Storm were down 15-1 in the in the bottom of the fourth inning when they scored seven runs to make it a 15-8 game.
DMACC kept their foot on the pedal, scoring six more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the 21-10 win.
Creighton Wilke powered the Storm’s offensive attack with 5 RBI’s in four at bats.
“Wilke is explosive at the plate, and can drive in runs,” Parks explained. “He continues to get better for us.”
Des Moines beat SCC 5-1 in the second game of the doubleheader. Southeast’s batters managed just two hits, with Tandon Dorn driving in the lone run.
Pitcher Jered Patton took the loss for the Storm, giving up five runs and seven hits, and striking out three batters.
Southeast’s record droped to 7-11.
