The Southeast Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams rolled over Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in a doubleheader Saturday Feb. 3 at the Truman Center.
The Lady Storm dominated NCTA in the first game 91-34.
“A game like this is tough to prepare for,” Head Coach Vicki Wooton said. “The challenge for our players was to not play down to the competition.”
The coach was pleased with how the Lady Storm played defensively.
“We started a little slow…but as the game wore on we were able to own the boards,” Wooton said. “We also did a good job of rotating on defense and disrupting the passing lanes.”
Destiny Whitehead led SCC with 14 points. Olivia Moore and Amanda Fluker had 11 and 10 points respecively.
Kesha Wemhoff led NCTA with 19 points.
The SCC men’s team overwhelmed NCTA 119-42.
The Storm led 65-25 at halftime and held the Aggies to just 17 second half points and 21 percent shooting.
SCC out-rebounded NCTA 83-34 and forced 29 turnovers.
Delquan Thomas led the Storm with 28 points, 12 rebounds and eight steals.
Dane Christiansen took advantage of some rare extensive playing time. Christiansen poured in 23 points, including 4-7 from the three point line.
