BEATRICE—After suffering from two losses on the road, the SCC men’s basketball team ended the first half of their season with a 62-57 win over Southwestern CC in Creston, Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 17.
“We struggled offensively,” said head coach Joel Wooton, “and fell behind by as many as fifteen in the first half.”
SCC went into half time trailing behind Southwestern 25-29. The Storm came out strong offensively in the second half to defeat the Spartans.
Southeast had five players in double figures. Freshman Delquan Thomas of Louisville, Ky., led the Storm with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 steals.
Venton Wilder of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Domonique Smith of Louisville, Ky., each contributed 12 points for the Storm.
“After limited practice because of final exams, it was good to end the first half (of the season) 11-3,” added Wooton.
Southeast’s next game is at home on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. against York.
