BEATRICE—SCC Men’s Basketball team suffered a loss to Central-Columbus in overtime on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
“The most disappointing thing was we messed layups and free throws and turned the ball over,” said head coach Joel Wooton, “and still could have won the game.”
SCC went into the half leading Central 43-32. In the second half SCC missed 12 shots in the paint and were just 7 for 21 in free throw shooting. The second half ended tied at 72.
At the end of overtime, Southeast fell short 78-88 and fell to 14-6 on the season.
Sophomore guard Domonique Smith of Louisville, Ky., led the Storm scoring with 16 points.
Mike Evans, a sophomore guard from Bossier City, La., gave the Storm 14 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
“We got tired down the stretch, having played 3 games in 4 days,” added Wooton.
Southeast’s next game will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at McCook.
