BEATRICE– The Southeast Community College Storm baseball team began the spring season with an average start. The Storm currently has 8 wins, 12 losses and 1 tie for the season.
SCC travelled to Pittsburg, Kan., on Friday, Feb. 17, for their first tournament.
The Storm faced Fort Scott Community College in a double-header on Friday, suffering their first loss of 0-10. They then came back to tie the second game 2-2.
On Saturday, Feb. 18, SCC faced North Central. The Storm achieved their first win with a score of 8-0 over North Central. They then faced Fort Scott again, suffering another loss of 3-7.
Sunday, Feb. 19, the Storm faced North Central. This time left SCC with another win of 5-3. They then took on Fort Scott for a fourth time, again falling short 3-5.
On Sunday, Feb. 26, Southeast defeated Doane JV in a double-header with scores of 12-2 and 3-1 at Beatrice.
Thursday, March 1, SCC travelled to Highland, Kan., to face Highland Community College in a double-header. Southeast was defeated in both games, suffering losses of 15-2 and 4-2.
SCC’s next games were on Saturday, March 3, in York to face York JV. Southeast came home from York with two wins with scores of 16-2 and 17-0.
On Friday, March 9, SCC hosted Concordia JV in Beatrice. The Storm split the double-header with Concordia, winning the first game 10-1 and losing the second 5-8.
SCC then travelled to Crete, to face Doane JV. SCC split the double-header, winning the first game 2-0 and losing the second 3-6.
Southeast then spent a week in Okla. over spring break. On Tuesday, March 20, SCC faced Northern Oklahoma in Enid, Okla. The Storm lost both games with scores of 1-11 and 0-2.
SCC then travelled to El Reno, Okla., on Wednesday, March 21, to face Redlands Community College. The Storm fell short, losing 0-7.
On Saturday, March 24, SCC travelled to Tonkawa, Okla., to face Northern Oklahoma. SCC lost both games of a double header with scores of 3-4 and 0-5.
SCC travelled to Concordia, Kan., on Wednesday, March 28, to face Cloud County Community College. At this time the scores of the games have not yet been posted.
Southeast’s next games will be held on Thursday, April 5, in Beatrice against Concordia JV, at 2 and 4 p.m.
