The automotive programs on Southeast Community College’s Milford Campus received donations of vehicles and money just as faculty were gearing up for the start of the 2011-2012 academic year.
Firestone presented the automotive department with a $3,000 check to be used at the discretion of the department. The check was a gift for the training and for the excellent employees Firestone has hired from the automotive programs.
Eleven high school automotive teachers from around the state were on the Milford Campus for two days of training. The class had three sections of four hours each covering Ford, Chrysler and General Motors products. Instructors came from communities that included Omaha, O’Neill and North Platte.
GM also donated a black 2011 GMC Terrain with just two miles to SCC’s GM Automotive Service Educational Program.
“On behalf of our automotive programs, we are very thankful for these donations of training equipment and money,” said Rick Morphew, chair of the Automotive Technology, Chrysler College Automotive Program, Ford ASSET, and GM ASEP programs on the Milford Campus. “SCC and its automotive students have benefitted tremendously from corporate partnerships, and we look forward to continually working with them.”
