The Southeast Community College Lady Storm were served a 84-50 blowout by a talented and athletic McCook Lady Indian team as part of a men’s and women’s double header Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Truman Center.
McCook forced SCC into 25 turnovers and held the Lady Storm to 29 percent shooting and outrebounded SCC 56-40.
Head Coach Vicki Wooton said the team was lacking effort and intensity.
“We got out-hustled, and they wanted it more than we did,” Wooton said. “However, we had a hard time pointing the blame to anyone but ourselves.”
Wooton said the Lady Storm need to work on starting better and playing complete games.
“Until we can be ready to play when the clock starts and play a complete game…games like these are going to happen,” Wooton said.
Destiny Whitehead led SCC with 11 points, while Mesha Phillips added 11.
Shelby Hemman led the Lady Indians with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Next up for the SCC is a game at Central Community College Thursday, Jan. 24.
