The SCC Lady Storm Softball team is looking to get back on track after a four game losing streak.
The Lady Storm was beat by Central Community College 18-2 and 9-2 on Tuesday, March 26, at Central Community College, and by Doane JV 8-5 and 9-7 at home, Thursday, March 28.
Southeast had three straight series cancelled to do weather, but Head Coach Tiffany Higgins said the losses were not due to “rust.”
“The teams we have been playing have been in the same situation we have regarding cancellations and postponements due to the weather and/or field conditions,” Higgins explained. “I would say the recent losses have been due to a lack of (us) taking advantage of the opportunities provided by our opponents.”
The coach said the team has not being productive enough offensively and have been making “too many mental mistakes.”
“Basically, we have been beating ourselves,” Higgins said.
“Though I’m not taking anything away from Central or Doane J.V.,” Higgins clarified. “They are good teams and are well coached … the bottom line is that they took advantage of our mistakes, and we let them.”
The Lady Storm will compete in the CCC Tournament at Columbus April 5-7.
