LINCOLN- Southeast Community College-Lincoln graduation ceremony will take place on Friday, June 10th at 7:30 pm in the gym on the Lincoln Campus. There is expected to be 338 students graduating this year.
Some programs with the highest number of graduates include the Academic Transfer program with 71 graduates, Business Administration with 55, Radiology with 20, and both Truck Driving and Surgical Tech with 18 graduates.
The guest speaker will be Senator Bill Avery (District 28). The student senate, who has not yet been announced, will give the welcome speech.
“The number of graduates is what makes this graduation different from any others in the past. Typically, there are about 290-300 graduates a year and this year it is obviously bigger than normal,” said Laurie Vancura, a faculty member of SCC-Lincoln.
A recent graduate, Paige Wendell, said, “I graduated last year from the Business program and loved every minute of being in the program. The teachers were so helpful and I definitely learned a lot from them. Although I didn’t walk on graduation day, I do take huge pride in graduating from the Business program at SCC.”
MILFORD- Southeast Community College-Milford will be hosting the graduation ceremony Thursday, June 9th at 7:30 pm in the Welsh Center gymnasium.
There are 139 graduates from various programs including Auto Collision Repair Technology with 14 graduates, Diesel Technology with 12, Graphic Design with 14, and Electrical and Electromechanical Technology with 28 graduates.
Speaker for the event will be Mr. Ross Scholz from Harold K. Scholz Company in Omaha Nebraska.
BEATRICE- After the two years of studies, hard work and expectations, finally the moment will come. The moment of pride, honor and contentment. This moment is called graduation.
The graduation ceremony for Southeast Community College-Beatrice students will be held in the Truman Center on Friday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m.
According to Cheryl Parks, an associate registrar at SCC Beatrice, this June, 111 students will graduate, and 100 will attend the graduation ceremony.
The Honorable Judge at Beatrice District Court, Paul Korslund, is invited to be a speaker for the graduates.
As Parks said, the majority of June graduating students are part-time nurses, that makes this graduation different from the previous ones. Among the graduates are some GED (General Equivalency Diploma) and non-traditional students.
The traditional caps and gowns for the ceremony will be available for the graduates the week before graduation.
Graduation rehearsal will be held on Friday, June 10, at 1:30 p.m.
“I encourage students to participate in the graduation ceremony,” said Parks, “it is the culmination of your time in a college.”
Parks thinks that the graduation ceremony “seals the deal of the hard work.” “Going through the ceremony concludes your work. This is what you have worked for,” she added.
